In the beginning...

We started the journey at 3am Saturday. John was just finishing up work at the night club and Tisha was sleeping in our guest room/nursery. I could definitely tell our little girl was ready to get things started, but our chill boy probably could've stayed in forever! About 4:30AM we arrived at the hospital. It was a very calm entry to the maternity ward. I mean, I was walking in like we were going on holiday!

John and I were shown to the room where I'd be waiting until delivery. They hooked me up to monitors and gave me strict orders to not eat anything, except crushed ice. That's not food. In the meantime, Tisha was asked to wait in the waiting room because they have strict rules on how many guests are in the room.

It wasn't until 6pm Saturday night that I was finally feeling contractions that were uncomfortable. The doctor advised me to get the epidural. I thought about it and decided it was worth it. All the while I would fade in and out of sleep and look over to John who was sleeping at times, or eating my favorite food, or reading the paper. I think the longevity of this labour was just preparing his patience, as he was so patient and tending to my needs. Finally, at 11pm Saturday night Dr. Emery gave me positive reinforcement that the end was near. I had since been moved into the twin delivery room and they had also discovered that the epidural machine hadn't been turned on since the initial injection. Between 6pm and 9pm I think was the most horrific time of the entire labour. John and I were overprotective of my new friend "epidural" after I finally calmed down. You can see it in-between us in the picture above!

After it was all said and done, we are blessed with two beautiful children! Done in one go!
